Old Ore Road - November 1, 2002

After taking care of business at the Ranger's station at Panther Junction and reserving the campsite at Elephant Tusk, we took off down Old Ore road from the northern end.

There were no cactus blooming but many of the wild flowers and bushes were in color. The weather alternated from cloudy to clear and the temperatures stayed mild.

The was a large tarantula in the middle of the road, the guys follwed it to get a picture as Sweetie Pie looks on with some interest.

The desert looks barren until you look closer. Small flowers hide everywhere.

Further down Old Ore road we stopped and hiked up the canyon that leads to Ernst Tinaja.

We spotted this millipede on a rock ledge, it was over 6 inches long.

Back out of the canyon, the view to the south, Mexico hides in the clouds in the distance.

We finally come to the southern end of Old Ore road and are again on blacktop highway 385. In the distance, the sun gleams weakly off the Sierra Del Carmen mountains across the boarder in Mexico.
