Our adventure continued the next day as we left the Pine Canyon area and headed for Elephant Tusk. The large rounded rock formation seen center in the distance is named Elephant Tusk.

We drove Glenn Spring Road to Black Gap Road. Along the way are some of the best views in Big Bend NP.

The ocotillo plants were green with leaves. I had never seen them like this before.

The turn onto Black Gap road takes one from rough backcountry road to REAL rough road. Traffic is not a problem in this neighborhood. this sign is at the southern end of the road.

We stopped along the way several times just to get out and marvel on the incredible scale of the scene.

The scale of the land is awesome. Grzegorz is seen as a tiny dot in this photo. (upper center) They next photo is zoomed in....

The vastness of the place puts me in touch with my mortality.

And in the midst of it all is beauty on a small scale too.

The next morning was beautiful, we packed up our gear and headed on down Black Gap road to the south and onto River Road.

We drove to Castelon and then back out through Persimmon Gap and on to Dallas...then Poland. It was all too fast, but a good trip nonetheless.

The End. :-) (Here is a glimse of the back side of a coyote disappearing into the brush. We had a really good view of him on the road but by the time I stopped the car and got out my camera he was almost gone.)
