Day 3 - Morning at Elephant Tusk, River Road, Santa Elena Crossing, Santa Elena Canyon

The nearly full moon was still high as dawn's light show began.

The South Rim of the Chisos Mountains catches the first rays of the rising sun.

The desert remains cool and dark while the light slowly works its way down the mountain's side.

The broad panorama seen from our camp was very impressive, my camera does not really begin to capture it .

As we made our was along the River Road, we stopped and admired the beautiful cactus along the way.

The River Road roughly parallels the Rio Grande, at times it actually gets close enough to see the river.
Ilse stands on the U.S. side of the river.
